The U.S. television channel Disney XD began streaming the full first episode of POLYGON PICTURES' animated television series Tron: Uprising in high-definition on its YouTube channel on Saturday. The animated series is being partially produced in Japan, but it also has American creative talent involved in its main staff.
POLYGON PICTURES also produced the ongoing American animated television series Transformers Prime, which also began airing in Japan last month. The company has also been involved in CG animation for The Sky Crawlers, Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence, and several Pokémon films such as Pokémon: Arceus and the Jewel of Life and Pokémon: Giratina & The Sky Warrior.
Tron: Uprising will have its television broadcast premiere on Disney XD on Thursday, June 7 at 9:00 p.m. EDT.
Disney XD describes the series as follows:
Beck is a young mechanic living in Argon City, a growing metropolis in a far off corner of the grid that has just been occupied by General Tesler, a henchman of the notorious Clu. After his best friend Bodhi is ruthlessly derezzed by Clu's army, Beck seeks justice for his lost friend and launches a crusade against the regime. His rebellion captures the attention of Tron, the greatest warrior The Grid has ever known, who sees the potential in Beck and trains him to be his successor. Labeled with the moniker of The Renegade, Beck sparks a revolution to fight for the freedom of The Grid.
