Char's voice co-stars with Megumi Han, daughter of Lalah voice actress Keiko Han

Voice actor Shuuichi Ikeda will play the influential character Kite in the Chimera Ant arc of the ongoing Hunter × Hunter television anime. Kite is the disciple of Ging, the father of the main character Gon Freecss.

Gon happens to be played by Megumi Han, the daughter of Keiko Han. Ikeda played Char Aznable in the Gundam anime franchise, while Keiko Han played Char's tragic love interest Lalah Sune. The Mainichi Shimbun newspaper's Mantan Web site notes, tongue-in-cheek, that this means that "Char Aznable" and "Lalah's daughter" will be co-starring in Hunter × Hunter.

Not only is Kite a critical influence on Gon, but Ikeda played a role in Megumi Han's real life also. When the current Hunter × Hunter anime premiered, Ikeda sent Megumi Han a handwritten letter, thanking her for bring back memories of his own debut. Ikeda has since been giving Megumi Han his impressions and advice as he watched the anime. Megumi Han said that Ikeda is like a father to her, so she is happy he can voice a father figure to her character.

The Chimera Ant arc will premiere on April 21.
