Actress and singer Kou Shibasaki is lending her chops to Yamaha's newest Vocaloid, Galaco. The actress has appeared in Battle Royale, Dororo, and Ōoku: The Inner Chambers. The live-action actress started expanding her repertoire as a singer and has since performed themes for the live-action Future Diary TV show, the Doraemon: Shin Nobita no Uchū Kaitakushi film, and the upcoming Detective Conan: Ijigen no Sniper film.
Galaco was designed by artist Jirō Tomioka and has two different voice libraries, "Galaco RED" and "Galaco BLUE." Each have varying depth and range.
Both a download and boxed version of the VOCALOID3 Library Galaco NEO software will go on sale next month. The download version is slated for August 5 and will retail for 17,280 yen (about US$170).
