Asuka Voice Actress Hosts Melbourne Based JTB Tour

posted on by Chris Nishijima
See Australia's second most populous city through the eyes of the Second Child.

Evangelion's Asuka Langlely Soryu always thought of herself as a bit of a celebrity. Instead of piloting the Eva 02, perhaps she might have found her calling elsewhere as a small time idol or other occupation. If she wanted people following her wherever she went, and hanging on her every word, maybe a tour guide would be a better fit. Well right now, that is exactly what her voice actress Yūko Miyamura is doing. Before anybody panics, don't worry, this is not a career change, Ms. Miyamura is simply hosting a tour/meet and greet session in Melbourne with JTB.

The tour will run from November 20 to 24, and will include an itinerary full of items such as visiting famous sights throughout Melbourne guided by Ms. Miyamura, having dinner with her, a cosplay contest, and to cap it all off, a private photo opportunity with Ms. Miyamura herself. JTB will begin taking applications for this tour until September 29, but will only have spots for 15 to 30 individuals, on a first come, first serve basis. The total cost of the tour itself is 268,000 yen per person (about US $2,545).

On top of her work as Asuka, Miyamura also plays the role of Detective Conan's Kazuha Toyama and Wedding Peach's Hinagiku Tamano. Since her move to Melbourne in 2009, Ms. Miyamura has been taking part in many anime related, Australia-based events, including an Evangelion art exhibition in Sydney, as well as Australia's multi-location pop culture expo, Supanova. She also currently runs a blog via Ameba about her life abroad in Melbourne.

A complete copy of the tour's itinerary, as well as an application for it, have been upload to Dropbox for the convenience of anybody who may be interested.
