Utawarerumono: The False Faces Fans Decode On-Screen Language

Dedicated fans of Utawarerumono: The False Faces have deciphered the anime's on-screen alphabet. The original and foreign writing seen in the show uses a substitution cipher in which various symbols (similar in appearance to traditional Japanese kanji) can be replaced with letters from the Roman alphabet, which spell out Japanese vocabulary. The official cipher is pictured below:
Based on this cipher, fans have already started decoding words within the anime.
The signs here were translated to reveal the names of the sauces used on screen. The ones shown here are types of goma shoyu sauce and goma miso sauce, respectively.
The novel here was also translated to make out some of the sentences within, though their entirety is cut off. However, the words "sky" (sora), "yellow" (kiiro) and "god" (kami) can be clearly seen.
More food and condiments can be seen translated here as well. The English letters were used to make out basic romanizations of the Japanese terms used. The restaurant, surprisingly, is serving a lot of common Japanese dishes.
Other anime that utilized clever ciphers include Space Dandy, which came up with its own original alien writing.
