IMAGI's Astro Boy Film Debuts at #3 on UK Charts

Ponyo opens below UK box office's Top 10

IMAGI's computer-animated adaptation of Osamu Tezuka's Astro Boy manga debuted at #3 on the United Kingdom box office charts during the February 5-7 weekend. According to Variety and Rentrak theatrical, the film earned US$1,739,352 in 407 theaters. During its second weekend in the box office, the film fell to #10, earning US$912,187 for a two-week total of US$3,511,523. Box Office Mojo reports that Astro Boy has earned US$19,551,067 in the United States and US$28,294,719 worldwide. IMAGI had a reported production budget for the movie of US$65 million.

Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli's Ponyo anime film debuted in the UK during the February 12-14 weekend, but did not place in the top 15. According to Box Office Mojo, Ponyo has earned US$15,090,399 in the U.S. and US$200,202,160 worldwide.
