Sophia Keyboardist Returns After Lymphoma Battle

Keiichi Miyako to resume activities after 7-month hiatus for treatment

Keyboardist Keiichi Miyako of the Japanese rock band SOPHIA has announced on Sunday that he would resume his role in the band and end the break he took to battle lymphoma. Miyako announced in March that he had been diagnosed in February and would go on hiatus after the band's 15th anniversary tour to undergo treatment.

Miyako underwent treatment from May to September, and his health has improved to the point that he can resume daily life. He is working towards a return to onstage performances next spring. To prevent a relapse, he will still go to the hospital two to three times a month for the next two years.

SOPHIA performed "Boku wa Koko ni Iru," the second ending theme song for the Kaleido Star television anime series. The band appeared at Anime Expo this past July and performed without Miyako.
