Chihayafuru Anime's Staff, Premiere Date Announced

The Japanese broadcaster NTV announced the staff and premiere date for the anime adaptation of Yuki Suetsugu's award-winning women's manga Chihayafuru on Thursday. In the story, a schoolgirl named Chihaya Ayase once only dreamed about her sister making it big as a fashion model, until she decides to forge her own path in life. After seeing a quiet transfer student named Arata Wataya play the game, Chihaya enters the competitive world of karuta cards.
Morio Asaka (Aoi Bungaku Series, Cardcaptor Sakura, Chobits, NANA) is directing the project at the anime Studio Madhouse, and Naoya Takayama (Supernatural the Animation) is in charge of the scripts. Kunihiko Hamada (NANA) is designing the characters.
The anime will premiere in Japan on Tuesday, October 4 at 24:59 (effectively Wednesday, October 5 at 12:59 a.m.) The official Twitter account is under the chihaya_anime name.
