TV anime adaptation of Kumichi Yoshizuki, Norie Yamada's manga gets DVD release this spring

Sentai Filmworks announced on Wednesday that it has licensed the anime adaptation of Kumichi Yoshizuki and Norie Yamada's Someday's Dreamers manga. The company will release the series digitally "soon" and then on DVD this spring.

Geneon Entertainment previously licensed the 12-episode series in North America in 2003. The manga and anime revolve around Yume Kikuchi, a girl who can use magic, who goes to Tokyo to become an apprentice to Masami Oyamada, a professional mage. Masami Shimoda (Boys Be..., 11eyes, Polyphonica) directed the 2003 series at J.C. Staff and Viewworks.

A spinoff anime titled Mahō Tsukai ni Taisetsu na Koto: Natsu no Sora aired in 2008. The manga series also received a live-action film adaptation in 2008.

Tokyopop published Yoshizuki and Yamada's two-volume manga in North America. The company had also released the Someday's Dreamers: Spellbound spinoff manga.

Update: Press release link, background information added.

Update 2: Sentai Filmworks told ANN that it "can neither confirm nor deny" whether the company also holds the license to the 12-episode Mahō Tsukai ni Taisetsu na Koto: Natsu no Sora spinoff anime series.
