News Road to Ninja: Naruto Film Tops 1 Billion Yen

The currently playing Road to Ninja: Naruto the Movie topped 1 billion yen (about US$13 million) at the Japanese box office, 17 days after opening on July 28. The film is outpacing last year's film, Naruto Shippūden: Blood Prison, by 177%. At this rate, Oricon reports that the new film will surpass the current highest-grossing Naruto film, 2004's Naruto the Movie: Ninja Clash in the Land of Snow (1.37 billion yen/US$17.4 million).
To thank the fans for watching the film, Naruto creator Masashi Kishimoto drew a sketch and wrote some comments that the film's official website posted (In the linked page, select the magnifying glasses).
