Gag anime spin-off of Fist of the North Star to premiere on April 2

Coamix's Monthy Comic Zenon magazine posted a preview to its official YouTube Channel for this year's anime adaptation of Kajio's DD Fist of the North Star (DD Hokuto no Ken) manga.

The trailer reveals the cast as follows:

Additionally, Akira Kamiya is returning to the franchise to voice Ryūken. Shocker O-no will narrate the series.

Tetsuo Hara, the artist from the original Fist of the North Star manga series, will be participating in the anime as an animation supervisor. Hara stated that, while he was publishing Fist of the North Star, he wanted to draw a gag manga. Fruits Basket's Akitaro Daichi, who previously directed slapstick comedies such as Prince Mackaroo and Gag Manga Biyori, will be helming the series.

The DD Fist of the North Star manga is set "in the year 199x, mankind was … not engulfed in the flames of nuclear war?

"In the 21st century, the characters of Fist of the North Star are living in peaceful Japan. In particular, Kenshirō is a convenience store worker, Raoh works at a factory, and wracked by illness, Toki is looking for work. The legend of the Fighting NEET (Not in Education, Employment, or Training) North Star begins in the modern day."

The anime will debut on April 2 at 25:40 (effectively April 3 at 1:40 a.m.) on TV Tokyo as part of a celebration of the 30th anniversary of the original Fist of the North Star manga series.
