Studio revealed it had a 'project in the works' last April

Animation DO, a Japanese studio mostly known for subcontracting work on other studios' projects, and Kyoto Animation aired a commercial on Wednesday for Animation DO's previously-revealed animation project. The end of the commercial features the text "A new challenge!" Animation DO and Kyoto Animation have not made any further announcements about the project, nor have they confirmed if the commercial itself was the new project.

Animation DO had revealed that it had a "project in the works" last April, and included a splash image with the announcement (pictured below) that included the phrase "Ore to omae no sa o oshiete yaru yo!" (I'll tell you what's make you and me different!)

Animation DO is currently working on Kyoto Animation's Tamako Market television anime series, and has previously worked on many other Kyoto Animation series such as K-ON!, Hyōka, and Nichijō.

Update: Kyoto Animation updated its website on Thursday and added "Suiei-hen" (Swimming) to its existing library of eight other commercials for the studio. Animation DO's Hiroko Utsumi storyboarded and directed the commercial, while Futoshi Nishiya designed the characters and oversaw the animation process. Elements Garden's Daisuke Kikuta scored and arranged the music. Thanks, ultimatemegax
