New Line Town Anime Slated for April 3 With Shokotan Song

2nd anime series based on stamp mascot characters from NHN's voice-chat/messaging app

NHN Japan announced on Monday that a new Line Town anime based on NHN's "LINE" voice-chat/messaging app will begin airing in Japan on TV-TOKYO on April 3 at 6:30 p.m. The series will also air on BS Japan starting on April 9 at 5:00 p.m. In the new anime, which will consist of 30-minute episodes, familiar characters such as Moon, Brown, Connie, James, Jessica, and Sally live happily together in LINE Town. Shōko Nakagawa (Shokotan) is singing the show's ending theme song "millefeuille nights."

This is the second anime series featuring characters from NHN's popular app. Shogakukan-Shueisha Productions is also collaborating with NHN on the Line Offline Salaryman television anime series, which re-imagines the LINE characters in an office setting. That anime premiered on TV-TOKYO in January.

In addition to the two anime series, the characters from LINE also inspired the Character Times manga by Fujiminosuke Yorozuya in Shogakukan's Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine and the LINE Offline ~Bokura Zukan~ (LINE Offline - Our Illustrated Guide) four-panel, slice-of-life gag manga by Renjuro Kindaichi (Jungle wa Itsumo Hale Nochi Guu, Haré+Guu) and the other members of Team.Kindaichi in Shueisha's Weekly Young Jump magazine. Character Times launched on January 9 and LINE Offline ~Bokura Zukan~ debuted on January 4.
