One Piece Film Z's Yasutaka Nakata co-writes song in sci-fi film's Japanese release

Cinema Today began streaming the Japanese music trailer for the Star Trek Into Darkness film on Thursday. The insert song "Into Darkness" and its trailer feature capsule co-founder DJ Yasutaka Nakata (One Piece Film Z , Five Numbers!) and singer Kyary Pamyu Pamyu:

The song will play during a club scene in the Japanese theatrical release of J.J. Abrams' Star Trek Into Darkness film. Abrams, who is also a composer, has chosen top artists from six different countries to create songs to be featured in various versions of the film. Abrams himself is working with the artists to produce the songs.

Paramount Pictures Japan will distribute the film in Japanese theaters on August 23.

Kyary Pamyu Pamyu contributed the new theme song "Kimi ni 100 Percent" for the Crayon Shin-chan television anime series. That single premiered at #3 on Oricon's weekly sales chart. She also previously released the Kyarypamyupamyu no Ghibli Set album in 2011 that covered theme songs from various Studio Ghibli films.

Last year, the singer's first album Pamyu Pamyu Revolution debuted at #1 on the United States iTunes Store's bestselling electronic album chart. The artist also sang in last year's Kōhaku Uta Gassen (Red and White Song Battle), the New Year's Eve singing contest that is Japan's most viewed music television program, and has been featured in Jigoku no Misawa's Kakko-Kawaii Sengen! manga.
