Aniplex USA posts English-subtitled trailer for film opening in Japan on October 26

Aniplex of America posted an English-subtitled trailer on Wednesday for Madoka Magica The Movie -Rebellion- (Gekijō-ban Mahō Shōjo Madoka Magica [Shinpen]: Hangyaku no Monogatari), the upcoming third Madoka Magica film. Aniplex of America revealed in the video's description that the film will screen in theaters in the United States this winter.

The trailer is the same as a trailer Aniplex released on Tuesday.

Akiyuki Shinbo and Yukihiro Miyamoto are directing the film at animation studio SHAFT with original character designs from manga creator Ume Aoki (Hidamari Sketch). Yuki Kajiura will be providing the music, while musical units ClariS and Kalafina will perform the movie's opening and ending theme songs respectively. The cast will be returning from the TV series, with Aoi Yūki as Madoka Kaname, Chiwa Saito as Homura Akemi, Eri Kitamura as Sayaka Miki, Kaori Mizuhashi as Mami Tomoe, Ai Nonaka as Kyōko Sakura, and Emiri Katō as Kyubey.

Aniplex describes the film's story. [Note: highlight below text for the story paragraph, which contains spoilers for the end of the television series and first two films]

Madoka Kaname. Once a normal girl who led a happy life, she sacrificed herself to save other magical girls from the cruel fate that awaited them. Unable to let her memories of Madoka die, magical girl Homura Akemi continues to fight alone in the world that Madoka left behind, dreaming of meeting that nostalgic smiling face one more time...

The film will open in Japan on October 26. The film will then open in the United States, Canada, and France this year. Aniplex announced at Japan Expo in Paris that the film will debut in France on November 16. Aniplex aims to release the third film in still more countries worldwide, just as it did for the first two films.
