Sekai-ichi Hatsukoi Boys-Love Film Slated for 2014

posted on by Rae First

The official website for the Sekai Ichi Hatsukoi franchise has noted that the film adaptation of Miyako Fujisaki and Shungiku Nakamura's Sekai-ichi Hatsukoi: Yokozawa Takafumi no Baai light novel series will open in 2014.

The eighth volume of Shungiku Nakamura's original Sekai-ichi Hatsukoi ~Onodera Ritsu no Baai~ manga announced on August 1 the voice cast for the film. Tohru Furuya (under the alias Noboru Sōgetsu) will play Zen Kirishima, and Kenyuu Horiuchi will reprise his role as Takafumi Yokozawa.

Furuya discussed the role, which will be his first role in a boys-love anime, at a panel at Anime Revolution in Vancouver on August 17.

The original manga's story follows the tension between a newly recruited manga editor named by Ritsu Onodera (voiced by Takashi Kondō on television) and his tyrannical editor-in-chief Masamune Takano (Katsuyuki Konishi) — who happen to share a common past. The Yokozawa Takafumi no Baai light novel series centers around Takafumi, a worker at the Marukawa publishing company with his own shared college past with Takano. He had helped bring Takano into Marukawa.

The manga has been adapted into two anime seasons, which both aired in 2011. Crunchyroll streamed both seasons as they aired in Japan.

Update: Furuya did not state as his panel at Anime Revolution that the Sekai Ichi Hatsukoi film would open in January 2014. The official website for the Sekai Ichi Hatsukoi franchise has noted that the film will open in 2014, but has not specified a month.
