Sexy Zone's Kento Nakajima plays minor character Aoyama in anime of Hiromu Arakawa's agricultural manga

Oricon Style reported on Thursday that Sexy Zone band member Kento Nakajima (Bad Boys J, Kazoku no Uta), the actor for Yūgo Hachiken in the live-action adaptation of Hiromu Arakawa's Silver Spoon farming manga, will play the character Aoyama in the anime adaptation of the manga. Aoyama is a student at the same agricultural school as Hachiken, and lives in his dorm. In the original manga, only Aoyama's back appeared.

Ryōhei Kimura, the voice actor for Hachiken, commented on Nakajima's performance, saying that he did a great job communicating on-screen. Nakajima, although he was nervous at first, commented that the experience of voice acting was very fun.

Arakawa created Fullmetal Alchemist before penning Silver Spoon. The manga won 2012's Manga Taisho (Cartoon Grand Prize) and Booklog awards, and 2013's Shogakukan Manga Awards in the boys' category. The manga is currently running in Shogakukan's Shonen Sunday magazine and Shogakukan published the tenth compiled volume in January.

The first season of the anime adaptation of the manga aired in Fuji TV's Noitamina late-night programming block this past summer, and the second season began airing last month. Aniplex USA licensed the series for home video, and Crunchyroll is streaming the first and second seasons of the anime.

The film will open in Japan on March 7, 2014.
