Japanese Box Office, February 8-9

Tiger & Bunny film debuts at #3; The IDOLM@STER, Super Sentai films stay in top 10

Tiger & Bunny The Movie -The Rising- debuted this weekend at #3. The film reunites the core cast of the Tiger & Bunny television series, as well as Yūichi Nakamura as Golden Ryan, Barnaby Brooks Jr.'s new partner in the film. The story revolves around a mystery that happens on the day of the "Justice Day" festival that celebrates Sternbild's legendary goddess. Viz Media announced that it will screen in the United States starting March 14. The film also ranked #3 on Box Office Mojo's chart and earned 130,479,865 yen (US$1,280,790) on 94 screens.

THE IDOLM@STER MOVIE: Kagayaki no Mukōgawa e! stayed at #7 for its third week. In the film, the producer works his very hardest to help the 765 Production idols prepare themselves at a training camp for their first arena concert. He also reveals that there are new girls joining the team as back-up dancers for the arena concert. These girls are all idols featured in GREE's The IDOLM@STER: Million Live mobile game that started service last year. The idol Haruka is also named the leader of the group, and she is held in high esteem by the new girls, whose futures will be decided after the concert. The film also ranked #7 on Box Office Mojo's chart and earned 56,669,494 yen (US$556,268) on 41 screens for a new total of 352,897,149 yen (US$3,464,038).

Zyuden Sentai Kyoryuger vs. Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters: Kyōryū Daikessen! Saraba Eien no Tomo yo (Zyuden Sentai Kyoryuger vs. Go-Busters: Dinosaur Great Battle! Farewell, Eternal Friends), the latest film in Toei's Super Sentai franchise, fell from #8 to #10 in its fourth weekend. The film ranked #11 on Box Office Mojo's chart and earned 20,136,937 yen (US$197,664) on 292 screens for a new total of 354,184,697 yen (US$3,476,677).

The live-action film adaptation of Yana Toboso's Black Butler manga ranked #12 on Box Office Mojo's chart and earned 18,010,427 yen (US$176,790) on 323 screens for a new total of 536,385,498 yen (US$5,265,160). Hiro Mizushima stars as Sebastian, a demonic "super butler" with impeccable knowledge, manners, grace, cooking skills, martial arts, looks, and more. Ayame Gōriki plays Sebastian's new master Shiori, who, like master Ciel in the manga, has a seal in her right eye as a symbol of her contract with Sebastian.
