Ikki Tousen's Latest Work to Launch in 2014

"Legend of even more beautiful fighters begins" in franchise based on Yuji Shiozaki's manga

The official website for the Ikki Tousen anime franchise announced on Saturday that the "latest work launches in 2014." The website is also streaming a promotional video for the upcoming Blu-ray Disc boxes of three past television series, and it teases that in the latest work, "the legend of even more beautiful fighters begins."

Tokyopop held the license to Yuji Shiozaki's original manga in North America under the name Battle Vixens until the company closed its North American publishing branch.

Geneon Entertainment once released the first Ikki Tousen anime series in North America, and Funimation then picked up the license. Media Blasters had licensed both the second Ikki Tousen anime series, Ikki Tousen: Dragon Destiny, and the third series, Ikki Tousen Great Guardians, but Funimation picked up the license for Ikki Tousen: Great Guardians.

The last entries in the franchise, Ikki Tousen: Xtreme Xecutor and Ikki Tousen: Shūgaku Tōshi Keppu-roku, debuted in 2010 and 2011. Funimation licensed Ikki Tousen: Xtreme Xecutor with Ikki Tousen: Shūgaku Tōshi Keppu-roku. The Blu-ray Boxes for Ikki Tousen: Dragon Destiny, Ikki Tousen: Great Guardians, and Ikki Tousen: Xtreme Xecutor will ship in Japan on July 30, September 24, and November 26, respectively. Each will cost 22,000 yen (about US$220).
