Xenoblade Chronicles X's 1st 'Survival Guide' Promo Streamed

Wii U game slated to ship in N. America on December 4

Nintendo began streaming the first episode of its Xenoblade Chronicles X "survival guide" promotional video series. The video showcases the starting town of New Los Angeles, the BLADE organization, and missions for the upcoming Wii U game.

Nintendo plans to release one video a month until the game's release date.

The game will launch in North America on December 4. Nintendo announced at its panel at PAX Prime on Saturday that it will release a special edition for US$89.99. The special edition will include the game, a custom USB drive, a soundtrack, and an artbook.

In Xenoblade Chronicles X, players will join an organization called BLADE, where they must explore the world of Mira and search for "Life Points," or lost pods that contain cryogenically frozen humans, lost when humanity landed on Mira.

Players will also be able to take on quests to find items and defeat monsters for the citizens of the base town, NLA. Helping the citizens will deepen players' bonds with them, which in turn can help players form bonds with other citizens. The game will support online multiplayer for up to four players, but up to 32 players will be able to exchange information.

Monolith Soft's action role-playing game shipped in April in Japan as Xenoblade X.

Tetsuya Takahashi (Xenogears, Xenosaga series, Xenoblade Chronicles) helmed the game's development and collaborated with Yuichiro Takeda and Kazuho Hyodo on the game's script. Hiroyuki Sawano (Attack on Titan, Kill la Kill, Seraph of the End) composed the game's music.

Nintendo released the original Xenoblade Chronicles for the Wii in Japan in 2010, Europe in 2011, and North America in 2012. Nintendo released Xenoblade Chronicles 3D for the New Nintendo 3DS on April 2 in Europe and April 10 in North America.
