1st volume of prequel to Blood-C TV anime series slated for May 11

North American manga and comics publisher Dark Horse Comics announced on Thursday that it will publish Ryo Haduki's Blood-C: Demonic Moonlight (Blood-C: Izayoi Kitan) prequel manga in North America. The company will publish the first volume on May 11.

Dark Horse describes the manga:

The prequel to the Blood-C saga from CLAMP, Production I.G, and artist Ryo Haduki! In occupied Japan in 1946, an American military investigator is sent to the Yokohama base to research a number of bizarre deaths. He soon discovers that the murderer isn't human! Blood-C: Demonic Moonlight is the prequel fans have been waiting for!

Haduki serialized the manga in Kadokawa's Newtype Ace magazine, where it ran from September 2011 to May 2012. Kadokawa published two compiled book volumes for the series.

Dark Horse is also publishing Ranmaru Kotone's Blood-C manga. Dark Horse released the third volume in March 2014, and will release the fourth and final volume on January 19.

Both Kotone's Blood-C manga and Haduki's Blood-C: Demonic Moonlight are based on CLAMP's Blood-C anime project. The 12-episode television anime premiered in 2011, and Funimation streamed the series as it aired on Niconico, and released the series on DVD and Blu-ray Disc in 2013. A sequel anime film, Blood-C: The Last Dark, debuted in 2012, and Funimation released the film on DVD and Blu-ray Disc in October 2013.
