Uta Pri Island Smartphone App Ends Service in March

posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
Game allowing players to build relationship with Uta no Prince Sama characters launched in 2014

Broccoli announced on the official website for its Uta Pri Island smartphone app on Friday that it will end service for the app on March 31 at 1:59 p.m. Players are free to use any acquired Jewels until then, although players may also receive refunds for purchased Jewels. Players will no longer be able to purchase in-game items starting on February 24.

In the game, players choose a partner from one of eleven idols from Broccoli's Uta no Prince Sama franchise, and build a relationship with them by playing mini-games. Winning mini-games unlocks artwork and items that can be used to decorate players' personalized rooms. The game is free to play, but players may purchase in-game items.

Broccoli released the game on iOS and Android devices in December 2014.

The Uta no Prince Sama media franchise originates from Broccoli's similarly named dating simulation video game series for female players. The games were adapted into three television anime series. The first series, Uta no Prince-sama - Maji Love 1000%, aired in Japan in July 2011, and ended in the September of that year. Niconico streamed that series outside of Japan as it aired. Uta no Prince-sama - Maji Love 2000%, the second series, premiered in Japan in 2013, and Crunchyroll streamed the series outside of Japan as it aired. Utano☆Princesama Revolutions, the third series, premiered last April. Crunchyroll streamed the series as it aired in Japan.

Sentai Filmworks licensed the first and second anime series and released them on DVD and Blu-ray Disc in North America in 2014. Sentai Filmworks has also licensed the third series for North America.
