Digimon Adventure tri. 5th Anime Film Earns 94 Million Yen in 17 Days

Anime gets extended theatrical run in Japan

Digimon Adventure tri.- Chapter 5: Coexistence (Digimon Adventure tri. Kyōsei) — the fifth anime film in the Digimon Adventure tri. anime film project — sold 61,900 tickets to earn 94 million yen (about US$835,000) at the box office in Japan in its first 17 days.

The official website for the project also revealed on Tuesday that the fifth film will have an extended theatrical run due to the success of the screenings. The film will continue to screen at 14 theaters in Japan starting on October 21. People who attend the film's screenings beginning on October 21 will receive a postcard with an illustration by Digimon character designer Kenji Watanabe.

The film opened in 16 theaters in Japan on September 30, and it was originally scheduled to run for three weeks. The film opened at #1 on the mini-theater rankings and dropped to #3 in its third week. The film also become available for streaming in Japan through the PLAYSTATION Network on the same day the movie opened.

Digimon Adventure tri.- Chapter 1: Reunion opened in November 2015, Digimon Adventure tri.- Chapter 2: Determination opened in March 2016, Digimon Adventure tri.- Chapter 3: Confession opened in September 2016, and Digimon Adventure tri.- Chapter 4: Loss opened on February 25.

Crunchyroll began streaming all five films on the same day that they premiered in Japan.

Shout! Factory has licensed the first three films for home video. The company released the second film on DVD and Blu-ray Disc on August 15, and the third film will ship on December 5.

The sixth and final film will debut in Japan in early summer 2018. The film's subtitle will be "Bokura no Mirai" (Our Future).
