Goblin Slayer Gaiden 2: Tsubanari no Daikatana Spinoff Manga Launches

posted on by Karen Ressler
Manga adaptation runs alongside serialized spinoff novel

Square Enix's Manga UP! app launched Takashi Minakuchi's manga adaptation of Kumo Kagyu's Goblin Slayer Gaiden 2: Tsubanari no Daikatana (Daikatana of Singing Death) serialized novel on Friday. The manga will also have a delayed serialization on Square Enix's Gangan Online.

The novel, a spinoff of Kagyu's Goblin Slayer novel series, launched on Gangan GA on September 27. The novel focuses on adventurers taking on the infamous "Dungeon of the Dead."

SB Creative published the first volume of Kagyu's Goblin Slayer dark fantasy novel series in February 2016, and Kōsuke Kurose (The IDOLM@STER Neue Green for Dearly Stars) launched an ongoing manga adaptation in Big Gangan in May 2016. Kento Eida began serializing a manga spinoff titled Goblin Slayer Side Story: Year One (seen right) in September 2017, and Kagyu began serializing the novel version in October 2017.

Yen Press has licensed the original novel series and both Kurose and Eida's manga. The company is also publishing the Goblin Slayer! Brand New Day spinoff manga simultaneously with Japan.

The Goblin Slayer anime adaptation premiered on October 6.
