ShiftyLook Cyborgs Up Japanese Arcade Classic Genpei Tomaden as 'Scar'
Hardcore webcomics re-imagining supernatural samurai side-scroller as time-traveling cyborg epic to debut on ShiftyLook April 12th
TOKYO, JAPAN – April 7, 2012 – Namco Bandai Games Inc., a subsidiary of NAMCO BANDAI Holdings Inc. (TYO: 7832), announced today the upcoming addition of webcomics reimagining Japanese arcade classic Genpei Tomaden to its ShiftyLook webcomics platform under the new title Scar. Scar webcomics join recent additions Rocket Fox (Stacy King & Shane Law) and The Five-Dimensional Adventures of Dirk Davies (Ben McCool & Dean Haspiel) as well as launch titles Sky Kid, XEVIOUS, Bravoman and Alien Confidential. Scar webcomics will be created for Namco Bandai Games by Singapore-based art and design house Velvet Engine Pte Ltd., with writing by Edmund Shern and art by Skan Srisuwan. Webcomics launch on April 12 th and will run every Monday and Thursday thereafter. “Scar exemplifies exactly what ShiftyLook is all about,” said ShiftyLook Producer & Editor-inChief Rob Pereyda. “Not only can we discover new worlds for our characters through webcomics, but we can entirely turn those worlds upside down, which is exactly what we are doing with Edmund and the folks at Velvet Engine on Scar.”
Scar t-shirts will be available in the ShiftyLook Party Kit, available now to comic book retailers, game shops, and other reputable geek culture establishments in the Americas and Asia.
