The File of Young Kindaichi R: Solving the Animax Carnival Mystery Case Files

At this year's Animax Carnival Malaysia 2016, Kindaichi faces his next greatest mystery yet and you will be called upon to help solve the seemingly impossible case. Not sure if you have what it takes? Before heading over to the carnival, try sharpening your crime solving skills in by tackling these Mystery Riddles.

Question 1

Ali is a handicapped man who is not able to conveniently travel to places, so most of the time he would get things delivered to his house. While delivering mail on a Wednesday evening, the postman felt suspicious as there were a few bottles of milk on the floor with a Friday newspaper and some unopened mails. He contacted the police and they knew the murderer instantaneously.

Who is the murderer?

Answer: The newspaper delivery man was the murderer because he already knew that there is no one to read it. The evidence lies in the absences of Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday papers.

Question 2

Cheong was found dead in his apartment with a dying message “7891011” written with blood beside his corpse. The police interrogate few of the suspects and narrowed down to the three people who visited Cheong that day.

Benedict, Jason and Carl were the three suspects that could have committed the murder. The police looked at the message and caught the killer. Who was Cheong's killer?

Answer: “7891011” meant July, August, September, October and November. Take the first letter of each month and it spells “J-A-S-O-N”.

Question 3

James was reported missing from his one-storey home on Saturday. Detective Sarah was investigating his case and contacted James's caretaker, Olivia, to know more about the situation. Olivia provided James's address to Detective Sarah so that they are able to meet up to understand the situation.

Upon arriving the house, Olivia ushered Detective Sarah right to James's room, insisting that it was the last time she saw James. Then she brought Detective Sarah upstairs to investigate more. While walking upstairs, Detective Sarah arrested Olivia as a prime suspect. How did Detective Sarah come to this conclusion?

Answer: James was staying in a one-storey home, so there could not be a second floor. Olivia provided the wrong address to get rid of Detective Sarah.

Question 4

Five friends (A, B, C, D, and E) went to a party together. They were all happily drinking iced fruit punch provided at the party. Friend A gulp the fruit punch at the start of the evening as he received a call from his mom who needs his help changing a flat tire. He left immediately. The next day, the news reported that everyone in the party died of poisoning. Why did Friend A, who drank the fruit punch, not die?

Answer: The poison was in the ice. He drank the fruit punch before the ice melted.

Question 5

John was shot in the stomach while taking a walk on a Saturday evening. Amanda called the police and told them that she witness a shooting in the park. She explained to the policeman that the shooter wore a green t-shirt and black track pants. She further elaborated that she saw a man walked behind John and shot him. Amanda said she was shocked and ran as far as she could.

After hearing this news, the policeman caught Amanda and said she was lying. How did the policemen know?

Answer: John could not have been shot in the stomach if the murderer shot from the back.

Question 6

Ethan was found dead in the morning while his wife was sleeping. The wife told the police all she knew about his murder. She told the police that their son was studying, daughter was cleaning the house and the maid was out in the garden. The police arrested the murderer immediately. Who is responsible for Ethan's murder and why?

Answer: If Ethan's wife was sleeping, how would she know about what the others were doing in the morning?
