Voice Actor Nobuhiko Okamoto's First Album Recalled

posted on by Eric Stimson
One song plagiarizes Kenichi Suzumura

On October 27, a mere day after its release, the first album of voice actor Nobuhiko Okamoto, Happiece, was recalled by its label, Lantis. It had become aware that one song on the album, the unfortunately titled "Bokura no Catastrophe" ("Our Catastrophe"), shares the same score as Kenichi Suzumura's "Hitotsu" ("One").

This video compares the two songs. "Hitotsu" is played on the left and "Bokura no Catastrophe" on the right.

In a statement posted on its website, Lantis explained that, although Suzumura has performed "Hitotsu" in concert, it has never been recorded on CD. This led it to be "introduced into Nobuhiko Okamoto's album production process" as an unpublished work.

A revised version of Happiece will go on sale on January 21 with a different product number; customers of the original version are asked to return the CD, along with any included materials, to Lantis User Support, which will send them the revised version in late January. Lantis also apologizes on behalf of Okamoto, Suzumura, and their fans.

Okamoto's anime roles have included Accelerator in A Certain Magical Index, Nikaidō in March comes in like a lion, and Bakugō in My Hero Academia. He has released several mini-albums and singles, but Happiece is his first album with 10 songs (including "Bokura no Catastrophe").
