It's that time of the year again: the cherry blossoms fall, and the April Fool's pranks fly. Japan's anime, manga and video game industries are fun-loving enough to participate in this tradition every year. Here are 2017's best anime-related April Fool's pranks.

[Link] The staff have decided that the upcoming anime will star bananas instead of anime characters.

Anne Happy

[Link] The anime series is getting a film but the girls are now magical girls that investigate mysterious incidents happening around them.

April 1st Anime

A website for a new original anime project opened, bosting character designs by Kiseki Himura (Sword Art Online: Progressive manga), scripts by Hajime Kamoshida (The Pet Girl of Sakurasou), and animation from PINE JAM. No title has been announced, though — the website simply lists it as "April 1st Anime."

Bang! Dream
