Wise Man's Grandchild Voice Actor Shōhei Komatsu Joins MENSA

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

Kotori Koiwai and Mika Kanda are just two voice actors that recently shared their distinguished status as MENSA members. On September 16, voice actor Shōhei Komatsu shared that he was also accepted into the high-IQ society. The actor took the test for a reason; to "increase men's power."

Komatsu launched an internet program with The Idolm@ster SideM voice actor Yuusuke Nagano titled "Yūsuke Nagano and Shōhei Komatsu's Men's Strength Improvement Committee" last year. The "world's wildest" program airs twice a week on the Tri Limited's YouTube channel. The program's press release states that Nagano and Komatsu are thought to have "little male power" and the duo will take on various challenges to improve. In this case, Komatsu took on challenge of the MENSA test.

Fans can see Komatsu take on the test in the Men's Power Trip Vol. 1: Fukuoka/Ōita travel program DVD set for release on October 6.

Koiwai congratulated Komatsu on his success, noting that they are both IM@S franchise actors. Maybe the series is somehow good prep for intelligence tests?

MENSA is open to people who score at the 98th percentile (top 2%) or higher on a standardized, supervised IQ or other approved intelligence test. The hashtag "#MENSA会員テスト" (MENSA Membership Test) began trending on Twitter since Koiwai posted her results earlier this week. Other voice actors took an online test via the quiz website Vonvon that is supposed to evaluate whether an individual could be a MENSA member.

Yūichi Nakamura (Fairy Tail, Mr. Osomatsu) took the Vonvon test and scored high enough to be a "MENSA member" level. Megumi Ogata (Sailor Moon, Neon Genesis Evangelion) also made the grade while Shinnosuke Tachibana (Love and Lies, Overlord) was awarded "Einstein level."

The Vonvon test is supposed to be challenging but is not a substitute for the actual test completed by Kanda and Koiwai.

MENSA has groups all over the world. The Japan group has approximately 1,500 members.
