Bandai Ent., Go! Comi, Tokyopop Announce NYAF Plans

Bandai Ent., Go! to confirm licenses, Tokyopop to film mockumentary

Bandai Entertainment has announced that it will reveal a new title license at its company panel at the New York Anime Festival (NYAF) on Sunday, December 9. In addition, the anime distributor will hold a series-specific panel on the Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion military robot anime series on Saturday, December 8. It will also hold a combined December 9 panel for The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya comedy anime—completed on North American DVD last month—and the newly licensed Lucky Star comedy anime.

After an AnimeonDVD forum post reported on Go! Comi's upcoming book listings on Amazon.com for Tomomasa Takuma's Kurogane Communication, Lay Mutsuki's Yggdrasil, Shino Taira and Yūko Ichijū's Bogle, Shioko Mizuki's Three in Love, Toriko Gin's Song of the Hanging Sky, and DUO BRAND.'s Cross x Break, Go! Comi CEO David Wise responded by denying—tongue-in-cheek—the report. He continued by saying the truth about "these or any other licenses" will (not) be revealed at its panel on Friday, December 7 at NYAF.

Tokyopop will be filming a "mockumentary" based on the Van Von Hunter horror parody graphic novel title, and the manga publisher invites fans to come to its NYAF panel and appear in the film shoot on Saturday, December 8 . Fans in Van Von Hunter costumes will receive prizes. The panel will also feature a "sneak peak" into the Princess Ai hybrid anime/live-action/computer-graphics project.
