Deal to lead to "choice" titles; Requiem from the Darkness' Kyogoku's 1st novel added

At Vertical's New York Comic Con panel on Friday, Editorial Director/Executive Vice President Ioannis Mentzas has announced that his company has entered into an "alliance" with an unnamed major Japanese publishing house. The terms of this relationship were not disclosed, but Vertical will receive an investment from the Japanese partner, and will gain access to the books that the Japanese publisher owns. This will allow the company to increase the number of new releases in 2010 to at least 14 separate titles.

Mentzas has also revealed at the panel that Vertical will publish Summer of Ubume, the first novel written by Natsuhiko Kyōgoku, in September. Kyogoku's later books have been adapted into the anime series Requiem from the Darkness and Box of Goblins.
