Police arrested four male minors from Sapporo, Hokkaido; Toyokawa, Aichi; Fukuyama, Hiroshima; and Hioki, Kagoshima on Monday on suspicion of archiving anime and tokusatsu (live-action special-effects) titles on the online storage service BB Quest without the copyright holders' permission.
According to the Association of Copyright for Computer Software, the Sapporo suspect archived Crayon Shin-chan episodes 539, 711, and 716 for an unknown number of Internet users to access around November 27 of last year. The Toyokawa suspect allegedly did the same for Lucky Star episodes 22, 23, and 24 around February 10 of this year, and the Fukuyama suspect allegedly archived Hayate the Combat Butler!! episodes 23, 24, and 25 around January 10 of this year. The Hioki suspect is accused of archiving Kamen Rider OOO episodes 10, 11, and 12 between November 22 and December 2 of last year.
