News Super Mario 3D Land Sells 343,492, Propels 3DS Sales

Nintendo sold 343,492 copies of Super Mario 3D Land to top Media Create's consumer software sales chart in Japan for the October 31-November 6 week. The Nintendo 3DS game helped move 145,271 more units of the handheld system itself. Sony Computer Entertainment's Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception (124,989 at #2) and Electronic Arts' Battlefield 3 (123,379 at #3) — both for the PlayStation 3 console — also debuted neck-and-neck last week.
Square Enix's PSP game Final Fantasy Type-0 (122,286 last week and 594,540 total) and Nintendo's Hoshi no Kirby Wii (55,779 and 192,589 total) round out the top 5 in their second week. Square Enix's Slime MoriMori Dragon Quest 3: Taikaizoku to Shippo Dan for the 3DS landed at #7 with 38,859 copies.
Namco Bandai Games sold 10,721 more copies of all editions of The IDOLM@STER 2 PlayStation 3 game — including those that bundled The IDOLM@STER anime — at #13. In its second week, the game now has a total of 76,233.
Namco Bandai moved 8,352 more copies of Gekijō-ban Macross Frontier: Sayonara no Tsubasa Hybrid Pack with the second Macross Frontier film for a new three-week total of 167,700 at #18. The DVD version of the second Macross Frontier film sold 36,574 copies after three weeks.
