Weekend Wrapup: 5/Aug - 11/Aug

posted on by Jon Hayward
This week we have a subtitled Rurouni Kenshin trailer, a teaser for Dragon Ball Z, a Toradora!-themed maid cafe in Melbourne and more;

The live-action adaptation of Rurouni Kenshin has just posted it's full trailer in multiple languages including English to youtube and additionally posted interviews with the cast. The same trailer was previously streamed without subtitles in June. The film will open in Japan on August 25.

A website and teaser for the 2013 Dragon Ball Z film have been launched. The film has had series creator Akira Toriyama involved in the film's production since early screenwriting and the film is set during the "lost decade" of story time after the end of the battle with Majin Buu. The film is not a spinoff, but a story in the official history of Dragon Ball and will launch in Japan on the 30th of March 2013.

The promo for the last volume of Hellsing Ultimate has been streamed from the series staff blog and at Comic Market 82.

Director Akiyuki Shinbo is working again with studio SHAFT (A collaboration that created Madoka Magica and adapted Bakemonogatari), to make an anime adaptation of Akira's Sasami-san@Ganbaranai light novel series. The story follows a female hikikomori who follows her brother and his interactions with the outside world via a "Brother Surveillance Tool" on her computer. Katsuhiko Takayama (And Yet the Town Moves, Love, Election, and Chocolate) is in charge of the scripts, and Hiroki Harada(Romeo × Juliet, Yu-Gi-Oh! Zexal) is designing the characters.

And finally, Hanabee announced a Toradora!-themed maid cafe to be run at Manifest 2012 which is this coming weekend (17th to 19th August). The maid cafe will feature servers dressed in custom-made maid and butler costumes inspired by the series and include hourly shows and a photo booth.
