Scotland Loves Anime Line-Up Announced (Updated)

posted on by Andrew Osmond
Includes Mamoru Hosoda's Wolf Children, world premiere of Nerawareta Gakuen, plus films of K-ON!, Berserk, Blood-C

The line-up has been announced for this year's Scotland Loves Anime event in GLASGOW (October 12-14 October) and Edinburgh (October 19 to 21).

Films confirmed for GLASGOW include the film version of K-ON! (partly set in London) and Takashi Miike's live-action version of the Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney videogame franchise. Films confirmed for Edinburgh include Mamoru Hosoda's The Wolf Children Ame and Yuki and the world premiere of Nerawareta Gakuen, produced by Sunrise's Studio 8. (Based on a children's SF novel, the film involves a battle between students at a high school.)

Both cities will screen the CGI comedy feature After School Midnighters; the remastered version of Ninja Scroll; Blood-C: The Last Dark, CLAMP's reworking of the Blood franchise; and Berserk: The Golden Age Arc - The Egg of the King, the first of the new cinema trilogy based on Kentaro Miura's manga. (Edinburgh will also screen the second Berserk film, Berserk: The Golden Age Arc II - The Doldrey War.)

Another title to be shown at both cities is Anime Mirai Project, a quartet of new short films. There will also be a "mystery" film at the Edinburgh weekend, and three "special" slots at the Edinburgh venue, on October 15, 16 and 17. The line-up for these slots will be announced later.

There will also be an Education Day hosted by the Edinburgh College of Art, with industry experts discussing anime.

A full list of confirmed screenings follows. Ticket and screening time information will follow. Scotland Loves Anime has a website here and a facebook page here.
