Cardfight!! Vanguard's Link Joker Arc Previewed in Promo Video

posted on by Egan Loo
Aichi heads to high school with new friends, rivals in 3rd TV anime series

TV Tokyo began streaming a promotional video for Cardfight!! Vanguard: Link Joker Hen, the third Cardfight!! Vanguard television anime season, on Friday.

The story is set several months after the events of the second season, Cardfight!! Vanguard: Asia Circuit Hen. The main character, Vanguard card game player Aichi Sendō, is now about to enter high school. He enrolls in the elite Miyaji Academy, but unfortunately, his rivals-turned-friends Katsumi and Yūta are going to a different school.

While his first days at high school are lonely, Aichi gets some advice from his friends Toshiki and Taishi at the Card Capital shop. To make the most of high school, Aichi forms a Cardfight club for Vanguard players. He makes new friends (as well as new rivals), and he juggles card-playing with sports meets, cultural festivals, tests, summer vacation, and everything else that high school has to offer.

The Link Joker Arc will premiere on January 13 on TV Tokyo.

Along with the card game that inspired it, the anime is a collaboration between Yu-Gi-Oh! R manga creator Akira Itō, the original Duel Masters technical advisor Satoshi Nakamura, and Bushiroad President Takaaki Kidani.

The first season premiered last year, and Crunchyroll streamed it into several countries as it airs in Japan. The second season, Cardfight!! Vanguard: Asia Circuit Hen, premiered this past April, and Crunchyroll has been streaming this season as well.

There has also been a live-action television adaptation, starring BREAKERZ band musician DAIGO, earlier this year. DLE is producing a Flash anime of Quily's four-panel Mini Van (Mini Vanguard) manga.

Bushiroad is releasing the original card game in English, along with a English-dubbed version of the first anime episodes.
