Saint Young Men Anime Film's 2 More Teasers Streamed

Story of Buddha & Jesus as roommates promoted with Evangelion, One Piece films

The official website for the Saint Young Men (Saint Oniisan) anime film began streaming two more teasers, in addition to the teaser trailer streamed last week, on Christmas. Special Video 1, "The Deities' Descent!" (an homage to "The Angels' Descent!"), ran during screenings of Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo starting last month. Special Video 2, "I'm Gonna Be a Tachikawa Resident!" (an homage to "I'm Gonna Be the Pirate King!"), is running during screenings of One Piece Film Z this month.

The anime film and Hikaru Nakamura's original manga imagine if the Enlightened One Buddha (voiced by actor Gen Hoshino) and the Son of God Jesus (SAKEROCK band leader Mirai Moriyama) shared a low-rent apartment in Tokyo's Tachikawa area. The two holy beings have landed on Earth and now experience the mortal life in Japan. In the first special video, the two get yelled at by their landlady because they did not separate their trash. In both special videos, Jesus tells Buddha that he has always wanted to look up the idol group Momoiro Clover Z.

Noriko Takao (episode director on Clannad, K-ON!, Lucky Star) is directing at A-1 Pictures off a screenplay by Rika Nezu (live-action Kimi ni Todoke, live-action Absolute Boyfriend). The film will open in Japan on May 10, 2013. There are also two original anime DVDs that are being bundled with the eighth manga volume (which shipped this month) and the ninth volume (next July). The original manga has sold over 9.5 million copies.
