Film to open on February 9 with idols' song "colorful," new epilogue

Sony Music Entertainment Japan's official YouTube channel for the idol group 9nine began streaming the region-blocked music video for "colorful," the theme song for Star Driver the Movie.

"Colorful" is 9nine's first theme song for a film, and it will go on sale as a single on February 6. The group also performed theme songs for the original Star Driver television anime series.

The film itself will open in Japan on February 9. It will feature a "new construction" of the Star Driver Kagayaki no Takuto story that revolves around the fates of Takuto, Wako, and Sugata. It will have an all-new segment about these characters' lives after the story of the television series.

9nine's name comes from the original nine-member lineup at its founding in 2005, but it now has five members: actress Umika Kawashima, Uki Satake, Hirona Murata, Kanae Yoshii, and Sayaka Nishiwaki. In addition to the Star Driver songs, the group also performed the ending theme song "White wishes" for My Little Monster (Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun) anime and the theme song "Chikutaku☆2NITE" for the live-action Ranma ½ television special.
