Haruka Tomatsu, Tatsuhisa Suzuki Star in Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun Anime

Kimi ni Todoke's Hiro Kaburaki directs Fall anime based on Robico's shōjo romantic comedy

The July issue of Kodansha's Dessert magazine announced the cast and staff for the anime adaptation of Robico's Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun (The Monster Seated Next to You) shōjo manga on Thursday. Voice actress Haruka Tomatsu will star as Shizuku Mizutani, a girl who has absolutely no interests except for school and her plans for the future. Tatsuhisa Suzuki will play Haru Yoshida, the constantly absent boy who thinks Shizuku is now his friend after she delivers class printouts to him. The rest of the cast are as follows:

Hiro Kaburaki (Kimi ni Todoke) is directing the anime at the studio Brains Base. Noboru Takagi (Baccano!, Durarara!!) is overseeing the scripts, and Tomohiro Kishi (animation director on Durarara!!, Princess Jellyfish) is designing the characters.

The anime will premiere in Japan this fall along with the Suki-tte Ii na yo (Say, "I Love You".) anime, and Aniplex (Sony Music Entertainment) opened the anime's website. Dessert did not reveal if either anime will be on television or home video.
