2-episode OVA from 1993 gets home video release in 2014

North American anime licensing company Sentai Filmworks announced on Thursday that it has licensed the Time Bokan: Royal Revival video anime series. The company plans to stream the series through select digital outlets with plans for a home video release next year.

Tatsunoko Production originally released the two-episode OVA series in 1993 and 1994. The series follows the villains of Tatsunoko Production's various franchises such as Time Bokan, Yatterman, Zenderman, Otasukeman, Yattodetaman, Ippatsuman, and Itadakiman as they compete in a race in their favorite mecha, with the winner getting the chance to be the villain in a new Time Bokan TV series. Akira Shigino (Osomatsu-kun, Crayon Shin-chan: Chō Jikū! Arashi o Yobu Ora no Hanayome) directed the series and Yoshitaka Amano (Vampire Hunter D, Final Fantasy franchise) designed the characters. Kunio Okawara (Gundam, Armored Trooper Votoms franchises) handled the mecha designs.

Central Park Media previously released the series on DVD with an English dub in 2005.

Sentai Filmworks had announced in July that it signed a deal with Tatsunoko Production for 11 of the company's titles, including Gatchaman, Casshan, and Gatchaman Crowds.
