Assassination Classroom Gets 3DS Game

Players create a character, join class 3-E in killing Koro-Sensei

This year's 47th issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump will announce on Monday that Bandai Namco Games will adapt Yūsei Matsui's Assassination Classroom manga into a Nintendo 3DS game titled Assassination Classroom: Kuro-Sensei Dai Houimou (Assassination Classroom Koro-Sensei Great Besiegement). In the "comical assassin action" game, players create their own avatar to become a student of class 3-E, interact with the characters from the manga, and set traps to try to kill their teacher.

Viz Media will publish the first volume of the manga in North America in December. Viz Media describes the story:

A humorous and action-packed story about a class of misfits who are trying to kill their new teacher – an alien octopus with bizarre powers and super strength! The teacher has just destroyed the moon and is threatening to destroy the earth – unless his students can destroy him first. What makes things more complicated is that he's the best teacher they've ever had!

The anime adaptation of Assassination Classroom will premiere in January and air late Friday nights on Fuji TV, and the live-action film adaptation is slated for March 21, 2015.

Matsui launched Assassination Classroom in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in 2012. The series ranked number seven in Japan's top-selling manga for 2013. It already inspired an event anime by director Keiji Gotoh (Kiddy Grade, Sengoku Collection, Uta∽Kata) and the studio Brains Base last year.
