Haikyu!! Anime Casts Ryūsei Nakao as Shiratorizawa Coach

Season featuring match between Karasuno High, Shiratorizawa Academy premieres in October

This year's 38th issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine announced on Monday that Haikyu!! Karasuno Kōkō VS Shiratorizawa Gakuen Kōkō (Haikyu!! Karasuno High vs Shiratorizawa Academy), the third television anime of Haruichi Furudate's Haikyu!! manga, has cast Ryūsei Nakao. The voice actor will play Tanji Washijō, the coach of Shiratorizawa Academy.

The 33rd issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump revealed the cast for the team in July:

The anime's official website previously streamed a promotional video last Friday.

The anime will premiere in October.

The staff is returning from the first two seasons. Susumu Mitsunaka is again directing the series at Production I.G with assistant director Mariko Ishikawa. Taku Kishimoto is handling series composition and Takahiro Kishida is designing the characters. Yūko Yahiro is joining Takahiro Chiba as a chief animation director. Hiromi Kikuta is serving as sound director and Yuuki Hayashi and Asami Tachibana are composing the music. Burnout Syndromes is performing the opening theme song "Hikariare," and NICO TOUCHES THE WALLS is performing the ending theme song "Mashi Mashi."

The first anime season premiered in April 2014. The second season premiered in October 2015. Sentai Filmworks has licensed and released the first season on home video, and has also licensed the second season. Crunchyroll streamed both seasons as they aired.

The anime franchise also received two compilation anime films in July and September of last year.

Viz Media published the first volume of the original manga in North America on July 5.
