New Food Wars! Original Anime DVD Casts Akira Ishida, Hisako Kanemoto

posted on by Jennifer Sherman
DVD ships with 25th manga volume on July 4

The official website for the Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma television anime posted the main cast for the new Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma original anime DVD (OAD) on Saturday. Akira Ishida will play Council 10 member Eishi Tsukasa (seen in key image on right).

Hisako Kanemoto is again replacing Risa Taneda as Erina Nakiri. Taneda played Erina in both television anime series, but her agency announced in August that she was going on hiatus from voice acting to focus on medical treatment for an unspecified illness. Kanemoto also played Erina for the Jump Special Anime Festa event anime that premiered in November.

Yoshitsugu Matsuoka and Minami Takahashi are reprising their roles as Sōma Yukihira and Megumi Tadokoro, respectively.

The website began streaming a promotional video on Saturday that introduces the members of the Council of Ten.

The DVD will ship in a special edition bundle with Yūto Tsukuda and Shun Saeki's 25th Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma manga volume on July 4. The main staff is returning from the television anime series.

The 24th volume of Tsukuda and Saeki's manga is also bundling an anime on DVD. The anime on this earlier DVD debuted at the Jump Special Anime Festa event on November 27, and will ship on May 2. The DVD will also feature the bonus short video "Nakama Ryō-ban Shokugeki no Sōma: Ukiyo wa Mazui yo."

Tsukuda and Saeki's manga previously inspired two television anime series. The first anime season aired for 24 episodes from April to September 2015. Crunchyroll streamed the first anime adaptation as it aired in Japan, and Sentai Filmworks licensed the series for North America. Sentai Filmworks also licensed Food Wars! The Second Plate, the second anime season. The 13-episode series aired in July-September, and Crunchyroll streamed the series as it aired.
