ITV signs deal with Anime Limited for upcoming streaming platform due in late 2022

According to an ITV press release, the company has signed a deal to put 200 hours of anime onto its upcoming streaming service ITVX, including the Hideaki Anno series Gunbuster (pictured).

According to the release, ITV has signed a deal with Anime Limited to make "ITVX the free-to-air home of a unique selection of anime television series and films which extends to over 500 episodes and 200 hours...a mixture of over twenty TV series and films, making ITVX the largest AVOD home of anime content in the UK."

Several titles are listed in the press release, including Hideaki Anno's 1988 OAV series Gunbuster, which has not been released on home formats by Anime Limited as of writing. The other titles mentioned in the home release are Vision of Escaflowne, Lupin the 3rd Part 6, Megalobox and Cowboy Bebop. ITV says that ITVX will also be screening other anime "not currently available on any other local platforms."

ITVX will launch in late 2022, and will be available to viewers for free with ads, and to subscribers without ads. The platform has a website at https://www.itvx.com/, which describes the new streamer as as offering exclusive new series, films, broadcast live events, curated themed channels, box sets and the ability to access the BritBox site.
