KanColle Anime Film Gets 4DX, MX4D Screenings in February

posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins

The official website for the Kantai Collection: KanColle anime film announced on Sunday that the film will have 4DX and MX4D screenings throughout Japan starting on February 11. Kadokawa has posted a list of theaters that will screen the film.

With the 4DX or MX4D systems, certain theaters have motion seats that move in sync with certain action sequences onscreen. Similarly, effects such as scents, wind, and mist will operate in accordance with the action onscreen.

The film opened in Japan on November 26. The film sold 70,000 tickets for over 100 million yen (about US$856,000) on 60 screens in its first weekend, and ranked at #5 during its debut weekend.

Shinichiro Inoue reprised his role from the television anime series as chief production supervisor for the film, and Keizou Kusakawa returned from the television series to direct the film at diomedéa. Kensuke Tanaka, who is credited with the original plan and concept, also wrote the film's script alongside Jukki Hanada.
