Asobi Asobase TV Anime Listed With 12 Episodes, Mini Anime

posted on by Jennifer Sherman

The official website of the television anime of Rin Suzukawa's Asobi Asobase (Play and Let Play) manga revealed home video release information on Monday. The series is listed with four Blu-ray Disc and DVD releases with a total of 12 episodes. The third and fourth volumes will include new mini anime. The releases will ship once a month beginning on September 26.

The anime premiered on AT-X, Tokyo MX, KBS Kyoto, and BS11 on July 8, and it will air on Sun TV and TV Aichi on July 10. The manga's seventh compiled book volume will also bundle an original anime DVD on December 26.

Seiji Kishi (Persona 4 The Animation, Danganronpa The Animation, Tsuki ga Kirei) is directing the anime at Lerche, with Yū Kinome (School-Live!, Scum's Wish episode director) as assistant director. Yuuko Kakihara (Persona 4 The Animation, Chihayafuru 2, Tsuki ga Kirei) is in charge of series scripts. Keiko Kurosawa (Re:␣Hamatora, Scum's Wish, Konohana Kitan) is designing the characters. KUSANAGI (Non Non Biyori, Welcome to THE SPACE SHOW, Princess Principal) is drawing the backgrounds. Morita Editing Room is handling the editing. Satoki Iida (Angel Beats!, Persona 4 The Animation, Tsuki ga Kirei) is the sound director, and Masato Kōda (Arpeggio of Blue Steel - Ars Nova, KONOSUBA, Knight's & Magic) is composing the music. Yūji Higa (Magical Girl Raising Project, Scum's Wish, Konohana Kitan) is the animation producer.

The "surreal gag" comedy manga revolves around three classmates who play traditional hand games, board games, and card games. Kasumi is smart, serious, and is good at games, but hates them because she always lost to her older sister and was forced to do chores while growing up. She is also extremely bad at English. Olivia is a beautiful girl of American descent, but was raised in Japan, and she only pretends to be bad at Japanese. Hanako is a girl who wears her hair in pigtails and has a bright personality, but still can't manage to become the kind of normal person she wants to be.
