Fans Vote For the Seinen Manga Series That Most Deserve a Sequel

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

Manga fans want to have their cake and eat it too. Long-running series like One Piece and Detective Conan were included in yesterday's list of series that readers wish would wrap-up, while today's list is series that readers want to bring back! The discussion started with last year's release of Master Keaton Remaster, Naoki Urasawa's sequel that debuted 20 years after the original series ended.

Yahoo! News asked 200 participants, mostly businessmen in their 20s, what seinen manga they'd like to see continue. The top 10 (the bottom three all tied for #10) include:

  1. Initial D (Shuuichi Shigeno) 12.5%
  2. Dragon Zakura (Norifusa Mita) 9.5%
  3. 20th Century Boys (Naoki Urasawa) 9.0%
  4. Iryū - Team Medical Dragon (Akira Nagai/ Tarō Nogizaka) 8.5%
  5. Parasyte (Hitoshi Iwaaki) 8.0%
  6. GANTZ (Hiroya Oku) 7.0%
  7. Maison Ikkoku (Rumiko Takahashi) 6.0%
  8. Akira (Katsuhiro Otomo) 6.0%
  9. Naniwa Kin'yudo (Yuuji Aoki) 5.5%
  10. The Silent Service (Kaiji Kawaguchi) 4.0%
  11. Moteki (Mitsurou Kubo) 4.0%
  12. MONSTER (Naoki Urasawa) 4.0%

What do you think? Have you finished reading any of these series? Do you think they need a continuation? Tell us in the forums!
