1st Footage of Idol Kanna Hashimoto in Sailor Suit & Machine Gun Remake Posted

posted on by Carlos Cadorniga

Kanna Hashimoto bursts in with guns blazing and dressed for school for her upcoming film.

The very first teaser has been posted for the popular idol's new movie Sailor Suit and Machine Gun: Sotsugyō (Sailor Suit and Machine Gun: Graduation) film. Her participation was announced back in June, and this marks Hashimoto's very first headlining role in a movie. The captions in the teaser reads "This normal graduating high school girl...becomes a Yakuza boss!" The teaser itself depicts the main character, Izumi Hoshi (Hashimoto), walking to school, running among friends, falling asleep in class and letting loose with her titular machine gun alongside her Yakuza buddies.

As a spiritual sequel to the 1981 Japanese classic film (based on a novel by Jirō Akagawa), this new film follows up with Izumi living a normal school life during her senior year. She's since solved the case of who murdered her father (the plot from the 1981 film) and now works as the manager of "Medaka Cafe" in a shopping mall. However, after her friends tell her about a scam they're involved in, Izumi senses danger creeping up again.

The film's first promotional poster was also revealed, depicting an elegant Hashimoto with her machine gun held close. The movie will premiere on March 5 of next year. The film also stars Hiroki Hasegawa (live-action Attack on Titan), Masanobu Andou (Battle Royale) and Tetsuya Takeda (Sannen B Gumi Kimpachi Sensei).

Kōji Maeda (Konzentokkyu, Watashi no Hawaii no Arukikata) is directing the film with a screenplay by Akira Takada (Soko Nomi Nite Hikari Kagayaku).
