Taito to Open Arcade Inside Akihabara Train Station

posted on by Eric Stimson
Arcade to use electronic money

Akihabara is Tokyo's mecca for all things electronic, video game, or entertainment-oriented. Visitors flock to its multistory arcades and game centers, among them Taito. Now Taito is trying to reach visitors before they even leave the train station with an arcade inside of it.

The arcade will feature two Nail Stage crane games (5 tries per play) and a Capriccio Star prize game (3 tries per play). The arcade is meant to promote Taito's use of electronic money as a means of payment: visitors can use cards used to pay for Tokyo's transit system (Suica, Kitaca, PASMO, TOICA, manaca, ICOCA, SUGOCA, nimoca, or Hayakaken). The best part? The money these cards use will be given for free.

The available prizes: tote bags and chocolate

The catch? The arcade will only be open from 11 AM to 9 PM on November 20 and 21. But Taito is spreading its use of electronic money from 21 outlets today to an expected 44 by March, so gamers can pay for their amusements more conveniently.
