Japanese Version of Saudi Arabian Kyoryu Daisenso Aizenborg Documentary Streamed

posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
Documentary contains new footage

Tsuburaya Productions began streaming Cultures Factory's Return of Izenborg documentary about the Kyoryu Daisenso Aizenborg series on December 29. The video is a Japanese version of the Arabic documentary.

The documentary tracks the production of the hybrid live-action tokusatsu (special effects) and anime series, with interviews of production staff and fans, as well as all-new footage using touched-up versions of the original suits, shot in collaboration with Tsuburaya Productions. (The new footage begins at 25:16 in the video above.) Kiyotaka Taguchi (Ultraman Orb, Ultraman X, Ultraman Ginga) directed the new footage.

Cultures Factory, a Tokyo-based company that aims to support relations between Japan and the Middle East, debuted the above 30-minute version of the documentary last month in Saudi Arabia, and plans to release the full 60-minute version on DVD or digitally at a later date. Tsuburaya Productions announced the documentary on its website last month.

The original series aired from 1977 to 1978, and centers on a special team that uses the Izenborg machine to fight an army of dinosaurs bent on humanity's extinction. The show also aired and gained popularity in Saudi Arabia and other Middle Eastern countries in the 1980s.
